Therapy for Infertility, Pregnancy Loss, TTC in NYC

Support for the worry, grief, and uncertainty that others don’t always understand

If your mind keeps returning to outcomes or uncertainty,  therapy can help you feel more grounded.

It’s not always easy to move forward when things feel uncertain

Infertility and pregnancy loss, including IVF challenges, repeated disappointment, and miscarriage, can significantly affect your relationships, your sense of control, and emotional well-being.

Even when others offer reassurance or encourage you to “stay positive,” you know it’s not that simple, and the worry can feel constant.

Many women I work with describe overthinking every decision, feeling caught between hope and fear, or carrying a kind of grief that doesn’t always have a clear place to go.

Navigate the emotional weight of family planning

What is therapy for infertility and families trying to conceive?

Therapy can support you in managing the emotional and practical challenges of infertility and pregnancy loss. This may include coping with anxiety, grief, and uncertainty, navigating medical decisions and self-advocacy, and processing loss in a meaningful way.

It can also help you work through relationship strain, changes in intimacy, and patterns of self-blame, while building tools to feel more grounded day to day. You may also explore your options and values around family building, including IVF, surrogacy, adoption, or donor eggs.

Is it normal to feel anxious when TTC?

Yes. Many women find that trying to conceive becomes mentally consuming, with constant tracking, planning, and worrying.

While some level of focus is expected, feeling unable to relax or “turn it off” may be a sign your nervous system is overwhelmed and needs support.

How do I deal with a miscarriage emotionally?

Miscarriage can bring intense grief, confusion, and even guilt or self-blame. Therapy provides space to process the loss, make sense of your emotions, and begin to integrate the experience in a way that feels more manageable.

Talk therapy can be helpful to feel supported, challenge fears, and process overwhelming emotions. Therapy approaches,

Therapy approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and somatic therapy can help reduce distress, shift negative beliefs, and restore a sense of safety and control. Healing also includes making space for your emotions, rebuilding trust in your body, and integrating your experience in a way that feels manageable.

Can therapy help with the anxiety of IVF?

Yes. IVF brings a specific kind of anxiety. The injections, the waiting, the uncertainty, the financial weight, the fear of failure. This can feel all-consuming.

Therapy, and particularly somatic based therapies, can help reduce the emotional intensity of that anxiety, process previous failed cycles, and help you feel more grounded and present throughout treatment.

How does infertility affect relationships and partnerships?

Infertility and TTC place enormous strain on relationships. Partners often grieve differently, communicate differently, and cope differently, which can create distance and conflict at an already painful time. Therapy provides a space to process your own experience while also developing language and tools for reconnecting with your partner through the journey.

Do I need to be doing IVF to benefit from therapy?

Not at all. Many clients come to therapy while naturally trying to conceive, after repeated losses, while taking a break from treatment, or while navigating the decision of whether to pursue treatment at all. You don't need a diagnosis or a treatment plan to deserve support.

Can therapy help after a failed IVF cycle?

Yes. A failed IVF cycle can feel devastating, and the grief that follows is real. Therapy provides a space to process that loss, manage the emotional aftermath, and figure out your next steps without pressure. Whether you're deciding to try again, take a break, or explore other paths, therapy can help you move forward with clarity and support.

How long does infertility therapy take?

It depends on where you are in your journey. Some clients come for a a few months, during a particularly hard stretch, like a failed cycle or a loss, while others stay longer for ongoing support throughout treatment. There's no set timeline. Therapy moves at your pace, based on what you need. We do recommend weekly sessions initially to best support your goals.

What is the emotional toll of infertility?

Infertility can affect nearly every part of your life. It can bring grief, anxiety, and depression, strain your relationship, isolate you from friends and family, and shake your sense of identity and purpose.

Many people describe it as one of the hardest experiences of their lives, yet it's rarely talked about openly. Therapy creates a space where you don't have to minimize what you're going through.
